Oslo Municipality is among Norway’s largest workplaces with its approximately 38,000 man-years. The business community in Oslo extends beyond the municipal boundaries, and in the economic sense, one must perceive the entire urban region as one labor market with an integrated business community. Oslo provides services throughout the country. It is the provision of services in the broadest sense – trade in goods, transport, banking and insurance, public and private services, and more – which constitutes the dominant element in the city’s business community, measured by the number of employees.

The business community in Bærum municipality provides work for about 35,000 people, most of whom work at Lysaker and Fornebu. Within a radius of 800 meters from Lysaker station, there are as many as 25,000 jobs.
The largest companies are IT companies such as Telenor and Cisco Systems (formerly Tandberg), and companies within the energy industry in the area, such as Lundin and Statkraft. At Fornebu you can also find the headquarters of Telenor, Aker Solutions, EVRY, and Equinor. As one of Norway’s largest municipalities, Bærum has high expectations for efforts. «We want people with ambitions – both on our own behalf and on behalf of society.»
